DJ Reese of No Stress Zone Entertainment is a convention emcee and DJ for associations, corporate conventions and multi day conferences. We host general sessions, run the music for receptions and exhibit halls, and keep a program on time across every day of the event. One operator owns the mic and the music, so there is no gap between the two and no second vendor to brief.
Looking for a host for your program? See our corporate event emcee services, with case studies from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

What a convention emcee does
A convention is not one event. It is a string of general sessions, breakouts, receptions and sponsor moments spread over two to five days, with thousands of small handoffs. The convention emcee is the person who holds all of it together from the stage.
- Opens each general session, sets the day’s agenda and gets the room seated fast
- Introduces leadership, keynotes, sponsors and honorees with names and titles right the first time
- Delivers housekeeping, room changes and schedule updates without losing the room
- Covers technical delays and late speakers so the hall never sits in dead air
- Keeps every session on time, so breakouts and meals do not slide
- Carries one voice and one tone from the first session to the closing session
What a convention DJ does
Music is how a convention moves thousands of people between rooms without an announcement every five minutes. Walk in music tells people a session is starting. Walk up music gives every speaker an entrance. Reception music is set so delegates can still talk. Exhibit hall music keeps traffic moving past the booths that paid to be there.
When one person runs the mic and the music, the cues never miss. The same person who introduces your president fires the walk up, and the room hears one program instead of two vendors.
Convention case study: New Jersey Gamer Con
On July 7 and 8, 2018 we were the convention DJ for New Jersey Gamer Con at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Cherry Hill in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It was a two day video gaming convention with tournaments, free play gaming lounges, retro gaming setups and industry vendors, open to badge holders on day passes and weekend badges. A consumer convention like this has no single stage moment. The music has to carry energy across a full hotel floor for two days, lift the tournament rounds and keep the vendor area feeling busy without drowning out the people selling in it.
Case study: RMS Sales Kickoff, 500 attendees
Regency Management Services brought 500 people from its sales team, leadership and partners to Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland on March 22, 2026. It was the second year in a row they booked us as host and music operator. The run of show had more than 20 segments: awards, leadership remarks and recognition moments stacked back to back. We ran the mic and the music from one position, and there was zero dead air between segments. That is the same discipline a convention general session needs.

Case study: Lidl US Strategy Conference, 500+ attendees
In 2025 Lidl US brought more than 500 people to the Renaissance Arlington in Virginia for its strategy conference, and we were emcee and DJ. A strategy conference is a leadership room. The content is the point, and the host’s job is to protect it, keep sessions on time and bring the energy back up between the heavy blocks. The client’s feedback was that we did an amazing job, kept people engaged and showed the ultimate professionalism. How we ran the strategy conference.
Case study: Alliance for Science East Coast Conference

About 300 life sciences leaders at the Marriott Newark Airport, in 2025 and again in 2026. A scientific audience has no patience for filler. The host keeps the program tight and gets out of the way of the content. Read the Alliance for Science case study.
Case study: NEA Representative Assembly children’s program

On July 4, 2016 the National Education Association booked us directly to run the children’s program at its Annual Representative Assembly at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. More than 300 children, mixed ages, all day, with music, hosting and activities run by one person. Thousands of educators were in session down the hall. The children’s program is what let many of them attend. Family programming is a part of convention planning most vendors never touch. Read the NEA case study.
Also at scale: 9/11 Day at the Intrepid and the Horizon summit
- 9/11 Day Meal Pack at the Intrepid, New York. Four days in 2026, September 8 to 11, for the 25th anniversary; in 2025 more than 6,500 volunteers packed over 2 million meal kits. Seven straight years. Case study
- Horizon NJ Health Mental Matters Summit, 2025. More than 500 attendees.
Convention emcee and DJ in one booking
Most conventions hire a host, a DJ and sometimes a separate reception act, then hope the handoffs work. We run the mic and the music from one position across every day of the program. For a meeting planner, that means one contract, one run of show and one call on show day.
How we prepare for a convention
- A planning call to learn the association or company goal, the delegates and the moments that matter most
- We work from your full run of show, day by day, and coordinate with your producer and AV team before load in
- Name pronunciations, titles, sponsor reads and award order confirmed in writing before the event
- We arrive two hours before the first session each day to set up and test. Full details are in our technical rider
- Fully insured, with a certificate of insurance available on request
What convention entertainment costs

Frequently asked questions
What does a convention emcee do?
A convention emcee hosts the general sessions, introduces leaders, keynotes and sponsors, delivers schedule updates and keeps every session on time across all days of the convention. The emcee is the one consistent voice delegates hear from opening to close.
Can one person emcee and DJ a convention?
Yes, and it is our most booked format. At the RMS Sales Kickoff we hosted more than 20 segments for 500 people and ran every walk up and transition from the same position.
Do you work multi day conventions?
Yes. At New Jersey Gamer Con we were the convention DJ for both days, July 7 and 8, 2018. We quote per day and keep the same host across the whole program, so the tone set in the opening session carries through to the close.
Do you run family or children’s programs at conventions?
Yes. We ran the children’s program at the NEA Representative Assembly for more than 300 children, all day, with music, hosting and activities.
Do you travel outside the East Coast?
We are based in Marlton, New Jersey and work most often in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and the Washington DC area. We travel for conventions, and travel is built into the quote.
How far in advance should we book a convention emcee?
At least 90 days out, and six months or more for peak convention season in spring and fall.
